v1.2 PCS Psychometric Validation Addendum

Companion to: v1.0 + the v1.1 Korean career-counseling companion. Purpose: Formal psychometric framework for the pilot cohort per SIOP Principles (2018) + AERA Standards (2014) measurement-quality criteria. v1.2 maps the v1.0 §4-§5 results onto the standard 4-coefficient validation suite + documents what is collected vs deferred. Audience: SIOP / AERA / peer-review-bound readers + v2 IRB-gated study scoping. Status: Addendum to self-published v1.0; not peer-reviewed. The 4 classical validity coefficients (test-retest reliability, concurrent validity, criterion validity, convergent validity) remain NOT yet collected at v1.2 ship; v1.2 documents the framework + roadmap. Author: Talentopian Research Version: 1.2.0 psychometric addendum

1. Why this addendum exists

The v1.0 whitepaper documented the game-based, multi-parameter competency framework + pilot-cohort internal-structure findings. The v1.1 companion provided framing relevant to Korean career-counseling practice. Neither version formally maps the v1.0 results onto the standard 4-coefficient psychometric validation suite that SIOP / AERA peer-review expects.

v1.2 closes that gap by:

  1. Mapping v1.0 §4-§5 results onto SIOP Principles 2018 (or AERA Standards 2014) measurement-quality criteria
  2. Distinguishing what IS computable from the v1.0 pilot-cohort data vs what requires v2 IRB-gated collection
  3. Specifying the validation-collection sequence for v2
  4. Providing peer-review-ready language for a future peer-reviewed manuscript (§4-§5)

2. The 4 classical validity coefficients — v1.2 status table

Per SIOP Principles 2018 §5 + AERA Standards 2014 §1:

Coefficient v1.2 status v1.0 reference v2 collection plan
Internal consistency (Cronbach's α / McDonald's ω) Computable from v1.0 §5.1 data; not yet reported as α/ω v1.0 §5.1 inter-parameter correlation matrix v2 report α/ω at parameter-cluster level (cognitive/technical/interpersonal/behavioral/personality/values/career/physical 8-category)
Test-retest reliability (r_xx) NOT collected at v1.2 v1.0 §4.5 pre-registered v2 retest sub-sample n ≥ 80 at 4-6 week interval per v1.0 §4.5
Concurrent validity (r vs O*NET RIASEC) NOT collected at v1.2 v1.0 §4.5 pre-registered v2 RIASEC self-report battery administered alongside PCS; Pearson r between PCS interest-derived dims and RIASEC scales
Convergent validity (r vs self-rated soft skills) NOT collected at v1.2 v1.0 §4.5 pre-registered v2 BFI-2 (Big Five Inventory-2) or similar self-rated battery alongside PCS; convergent-discriminant matrix
Criterion validity (vs ground-truth career fit) NOT collected at v1.2 — most ambitious v1.0 §4.5 pre-registered as longitudinal v2 18-month longitudinal cohort with career-outcome reporting (employed-in-recommended-career, satisfaction at 6/12/18 months)

3. What the pilot-cohort v1.0 data can support (computable now)

3.1 — Internal-structure evidence (v1.0 §5.1 formalized)

v1.0 §5.1 reported an inter-parameter correlation matrix from a small early pilot cohort. Preliminary internal-structure analysis on that cohort is underway and will inform framework consolidation and formal validation through academic partnership. v1.2 formal psychometric framing:

3.2 — The soft-skill collinearity cluster (v1.0 §5 finding formalized)

v1.0 §5 reported a strongly collinear cluster among four soft-skill parameters (Emotional Intelligence, Negotiation Skills, Social Skills, and Collaboration Skills) in the early pilot cohort. v1.2 formal interpretation:

4. What CANNOT be computed at v1.2 (deferred to v2)

The 4 classical validity coefficients (§2 table rows 2-5) require new data collection:

v1.2 explicitly disclaims attempting to estimate any of these from the cross-sectional pilot-cohort data. Any future version of the PCS Validation whitepaper that claims one of these coefficients without the corresponding collection is a retraction risk.

5. v2 validation roadmap (carried forward from v1.0 §4.5 with formalization)

Per the v1.0 §4.5 pre-registration:

Step Coefficient N target Window Status at v1.2
1 Internal consistency (α/ω) at cluster level N ≥ 200 Q3-Q4 2026 NOT started
2 Test-retest reliability Retest sub-sample n ≥ 80 at 4-6 weeks Q4 2026 - Q1 2027 NOT started
3 Concurrent validity vs O*NET RIASEC Same N ≥ 200 cohort Q1 2027 NOT started
4 Convergent validity vs BFI-2 Same N ≥ 200 cohort Q1 2027 NOT started
5 Criterion validity longitudinal 18-month follow-up Q3 2027 - Q1 2028 NOT started (long lead)

Prerequisites for v2 step 1 onward (per v1.0 §1.5):

6. Honest framing
